CSPPLAZA Solar Thermal Power Generation Network Report: Significant progress has been made in the diversified market application development of disc Stirling solar thermal technology. According to Dongfang Honghai New Energy Technology Development Co., Ltd. (referred to as Dongfang Honghai), since 2018, the company has made significant breakthroughs in diversified market areas such as disc solar heating and Stirling engine waste incineration power generation, which is of great significance for promoting the market application of disc solar thermal technology and Stirling engines.
1. Build multiple disc solar heating projects
The clean energy renovation project of coal-fired boilers in Suoyang Town, located in Guazhou, Jiuquan, Gansu Province, began construction in November 2018 and was integrated into the pipeline network for heating at the end of December. The project is designed to install 12 disc solar spotlighting and tracking collection system devices. In the first phase, a total of 6 disc solar spotlighting and tracking collection system devices and 1 600kW electric boiler device will be installed, meeting the heating area of approximately 7000 square meters for the entire town (office and public facility buildings).

This project adopts the Dongfang Honghai disc solar concentrating tracking and heat collection technology, which efficiently gathers solar energy and replaces the high-temperature heat of solar energy with hot water above 60 ℃ for heating through antifreeze medium. The system is equipped with a 2 * 100m3 water storage tank. When the average DNI index of sunlight intensity is 800W/㎡, the annual heat collection capacity is greater than 3000GJ. After testing, the solar thermal conversion efficiency of the disc solar energy collection equipment reached 86%.
At present, the six disc solar collectors in the first phase of the project can meet the heating needs of the entire town during the daytime and use electric boilers for low valley electric heating at night; In the second phase, an additional 6 disc solar collection devices will be added, totaling 12 disc solar collection devices, which can meet the 24-hour heating needs of the entire town. When there is continuous rainy and dry weather for more than 2 days, the system will automatically start the electric boiler for supplementary heating.
According to data from Dongfang Honghai, as of now, the first phase of the project (6 units) consumes approximately 860000 kWh of electricity during the heating season, saving electricity costs of about 450000 to 500000 yuan per heating season. Each heating season consumes about 120 tons of standard coal, reducing CO2 emissions by 319 tons, SO2 emissions by 21 tons, and nitrogen oxide emissions by 10 tons.

This is not the first case of Dongfang Honghai in the disc solar heating market. In 2018, Dongfang Honghai also completed the installation of 18 disc solar steam supply units in Ordos, and is now about to enter the commissioning and operation period.

New breakthrough in waste incineration power generation market
As a 'noble product', the Stirling engine was mainly used in high-end fields such as aerospace and nuclear submarines. After nearly eight years of persistence, Honghai New Energy has successfully reduced the cost of domestically produced Stirling engines to an acceptable level in the commercial market. Stirling engines have broad application prospects in the fields of waste heat recovery, waste to energy generation, biomass energy and other civilian markets. This is a statement made by Wang Zhensheng, Chairman and President of CSPPLAZA, during a research visit to Dongfang Honghai in September 2017.

After years of persistence, a breakthrough has finally been achieved. On January 5, 2019, the signing ceremony of the strategic cooperation agreement between Dongfang Honghai and Chongqing Huamao Investment Co., Ltd. (referred to as Huamao Investment) for the development of a waste incineration power generation project was held. The project adopts Stirling power generation technology, filling the technical gap of small and medium-sized waste incineration power generation projects under 150 tons in China, creating a precedent for small and medium-sized enterprise waste incineration power generation projects, and setting a precedent for the application of Stirling engines in the waste power generation market.
The first project under this strategic cooperation framework, the harmless treatment of household waste in Tonggu Village, Tonggu Town, Youyang County, Chongqing, has started construction on January 9th. Ran Yue, General Manager of Huamao Investment, stated that this project is the first to use a 'Stirling' generator for the incineration of civilian waste, with an expected power generation of 433 kWh per ton of waste. It is expected to further increase to 700 kWh of electricity per ton of garbage in the future, achieving social, environmental, and economic benefits. |
